The Certified General Accountants of Canada was founded in 1908. This association is a self-regulating, professional association.

CGAs work throughout the world in industry, commerce, finance, government, public practice and other areas where accounting and financial management is required. Clients include major corporations, industries, and entrepreneurs. CGA expertise is valued in the public sector, government and the corporate world.

CGA-Canada represents CGAs and students throughout Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean, China and Hong Kong. CGA-Canada sets educational standards, professional guidelines, provides services and develops the CGA Program of Professional Studies.

CGA-Canada is a valuable contributor to national and international accounting standard setting through its co-operative professional relationships with other accounting associations, representing CGA and public interest. CGA-Canada is an advocate for accounting professional excellence.
