How You Can Contribute - Content is Critical
User of the Month

If you want to become User of the Month or simply want to understand how you can share your skills to the Planipedia community, there are several ways you can contribute to the vision. Keep in mind, every user has a different knowledge, skill and available time set, so you should choose the method of contributing that is best suited to you.

You should also become familiar with the Planipedia Rules so that your contributions are beneficial and not problematic.

If you are already contributing to Planipedia in any of these ways, we extend our thanks. Keep up the good work! We value the diversity and value you add to this collective project. If you are a registered user, you too will have a Contribution Score that gives you an idea of your long-term and short-term assistance.

Although we are happy for contributors to indicate that they were the "source" of information, they must understand that the information can be used by anyone without acknowledging the source.

Invite others to participate

A key aspect of the success of any community based initiative like Planipedia is that like minded individuals are introduced to it, and that as a result some will take an active role in contributing more content or introducing it in turn to their members. This can be as simple as sending an email to a friend or colleague to say "take a look". It may also involve approaching an association or organization to see if they are interested in becoming a supporter. If there is an organization (a professional body, a planning firm, an educational group, etc) you feel is worth approaching, we have crafted an Introduction to Planipedia.org and PlanPlus Planitpage. You can simply send them a link to this to start the "exploration" or this community offering.

Planit Portal

Go to the Planit software tool to produce financial plans and run calculator reports. To understand more about Planit see the page Planit Community Edition.

Minutes to Planipedia Meetings

As outlined under Planipedia Meetings, we are holding bi-weekly meetings of any volunteers who attend to discuss operational details and help make decisions about next steps in our efforts. These steps may be approaching additional Supporters, encouraging more content development, issues around security or abuse of the system etc. We will try and keep minutes to these meetings and if possible record them for those interested but unable to attend.

Frequently Asked Questions

It sometimes take a little effort to understand how a Wiki community works. Who is in charge? How do you distinguish opinion from fact? What if you put in an article then someone who disagrees deletes or changes your content?

For some general observations on this, see these comments on How a Wiki Works.
